Here’s a really basic eye I just made as a gift to everyone! It’s a boy style eye for you to print, and it’s roughly based off of Kyousuke’s eyes.
It’s 24mm*24mm, so you should be able to scale it smaller to print.
The eye is meant to be small and have a lot of white around the sides and below it.
To use, measure the diameter of the clear eye chip that you will be using. Change the size of the picture to that diameter (say, 10mm) and then print out. Glue the clear eye chip on top of the print, making sure the upper round edge of the eye is flush with the outside edge of the clear eye— you should see a bit of white below and around it. Then let it dry, trim around the eye, add some more glue to the back of the print, and then pop it into the white fitted base of the eye chip.
If you place it just right, my signature shouldn’t show up! I placed it right outside the circle as eye as a guide. :3
I hope you enjoy! I’ll be making a “premium” version (more depth, more details, tons of color options) of this boy eye for sale later too.
While this a gift, please respect me as an artist and do not alter this as a base for your own sales! Thank you. :)

I wiped Bart today because I wasn’t happy with his face-up, and dug my L-bi out of storage. Surprisingly, it looks really cute with Rory’s wig! A supportive onee-san appeared. :>

Changed hir outfit and put Bart’s wig on hir. :)

Junk eyes for sale!

All eyes for sale have air bubble flaws. Amount of air bubbles differs per eye. Most eyes look fine from the front, but have clear spots when viewed from the side due to the air bubbles. Eyes have been priced based off of flaws, and prices do not include shipping and handling.

Please email me at chienism@gmail.com for inquiries! Thanks. <3

My sister’s Hasekura that I finished face-upping for her, and some in-progress Dollfie Dream (and SQ Labs) heads that are almost done but still need a few more details here and there.

Paper test print. I only have a B&W printer. The dark grey around the outside was my guide, sorry if it’s distracting!

More tutorials! :)

I decided to try designing eyes for fun and kept track of how I did it in case it helps anyone else design eyes!

The “base” is made up of three hues and colors— red on top, violet in the middle, and a darker violet for the bottom. “Highlight” is the shiny band underneath the pupil, and was just done by making a shiny strip, drawing in some light-colored lines for the texture of the eye, and then using the smudge tool to smudge the edges of it so that it blends into the rest of the eye better. “Dark” are the little, thin strips of dark lines on the highlight band.

“Glow” is a gradient right under the upper edge to make sure the eye doesn’t get too dark. “Pupil” is self-explanatory. “Star dust” is literally star dust— it’s from a photo of space. “Fuzzy edge” is the duplicated top part of “edge” blurred and brought lower onto the colored parts of the eye, then the color was adjusted. “Edge” is the dark ring around the eye to make the eye look more gooey and cute. “Kira kira shadow” is the dark shadow behind the eye highlights that is blurred and moved a little to the right— it makes the highlights pop more. “Kira kira” are the big highlights of the eye— three strong, opaque highlights (including the heart), and two gradient, translucent highlights. “More highlight” is the gradient laid on top of the upper-right edge.

Edit: Tumblr’s thumbnails look kind of weird. I tried a few different layouts but because one of the pictures is really wide but short, they still end up funny looking. Sorry about the funny looking second row of thumbnails!

Two other heads completed today! Both belong to Nekopon. <3

Hey everyone! I took all the advice very seriously— such as about how her nose was too far-gone, and that I should carve a mouth. So, I went back and modded her some more— I shaped her nose to be more prominent, and then carved a mouth a little smile for her. I didn’t realize that the mouth mod wouldn’t be that noticeable after I painted her, but it’s really there, haha!

I’ve done all I can with this head now, so it’s time to move onto a new one. I’ll most likely sell this one on Ebay or something to fund the next one to continue DDH01 quest! So far I’ve managed shy/pouty, and now energetic/spirited.

Thank you once again for your support and input! It’s very helpful.

Two and a half hours of modding later, Mabel is done. She’s on the left-hand side.

Might be hard to see, but I think the mods are most prominent around the lower face area. While the original head (on the right-hand side) had a protruding lower jaw, the new one has a very softened lower jaw to look moe, cute, simplified.

I shaved her chin down all the way to the neck hole, carved a smile in, softened her cheeks, carved a higher nose, and so on and on and on and on. My left-hand got super tingly at one point so I’m going to stop. It just made a weird popping sound, and then the entire hand started to shake??? What…

justchien:

This is how I would paint them after sanding the faces a bit to make them smoother.

A few more photos of this pouty bb.
